Licensed Professional Counselor

I believe that providing my clients with practical and long-lasting solutions to their challenges starts with listening to them and fully understanding their unique circumstances. I believe successful counseling combines one’s academic training and years of professional experience along with genuinely appreciating each client’s unique and distinctive situation. That’s why listening and working collaboratively with each client, and developing solutions just for them is how I approach counseling and why I’ve been able to help so many people.

I’m able to assist clients with successfully dealing with a wide range of challenges, from anxiety and depression to obsessive-compulsive behavior and grief and loss. In fact, I find it an absolute privilege to be a part of people’s journey. Helping clients deal with losses in their lives is enormously gratifying because I appreciate the emotional toll grief and loss can create, and have devoted significant time to learning about and exploring methods to help clients cope with such trying times.

As the mother of four children, a former special education and elementary education teacher, and current high school coach, I’m also well trained to help adolescents and their families find solutions to the many challenges they face during this critically important developmental period in young people’s lives. The combination of substantial life and professional experiences, formal academic training from Marymount University, and my focus on creating a safe, trusting, and positive environment for my clients allow me to help them develop constructive relationships, behaviors, and attitudes. That can sometimes include working with spouses, parents, children, siblings, or perhaps close friends who can play an important role in developing successful outcomes.

I also like to think my warm personality and congeniality set a tone for productive and results-oriented counseling for my clients, and that my insights help me connect with clients in a meaningful and impactful manner to find solutions to their personal challenges and develop the skills they need to lead healthy, positive lives.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor at Sunstone, earning my Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary and Special Education from West Virginia University and my Master’s degree in Counseling at Marymount University.
