Kate Casey, MA, NCC
Resident Counselor
National Certified Counselor
Kate Casey’s warm personality and active listening style contribute to the calm, supportive, and respectful environment she creates for her clients. She joins with each client to explore, find meaning, and facilitate lasting change in the face of life’s challenges and opportunities. Kate’s approach to counseling is particularly helpful to those struggling with issues of grief and loss, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, and work/life balance.
Kate works collaboratively with her clients to develop an individualized and holistic approach to wellness. The aim of this approach is to help her clients experience a sense of relief from their struggles and develop strategies for lasting change and enduring success. Kate believes that education and encouragement empower clients to address difficult emotions, cope with life’s challenges, and move forward with confidence.
In addition to traditional theories and techniques, Kate has a special interest in helping clients find a deeper sense of self-understanding through dream work in therapy. Dreams can provide a very personal resource for problem solving, inspiration and insight.
Kate experiences the art of juggling her professional life and family life as she and her husband raise their children. The experience of living outside of the United States for many years has enhanced Kate’s worldview and cultural sensitivities. She is also personally familiar with the unique issues and pressures facing today’s military families.
Kate is a Resident Counselor at Sunstone and will be supervised by Amy Stephens, LPC. Kate earned her Master’s in Counseling from Virginia Tech University. Prior to entering the field of counseling, she practiced Environmental Law.
