Licensed Professional Counselor
My personal treatment philosophy is to connect with clients through empathy, authenticity, and nonjudgment so they can feel safe and trust me with their innermost hurts, struggles, hopes, and dreams. I believe in meeting clients where they are and in creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I provide the gentle guidance, therapeutic expertise, education, tools, and skilled insight, while the client provides the willingness to attend sessions, learn, and give their best effort towards accomplishing their unique treatment goals.
As the various types of health are interdependent, I feel that a holistic approach to care is critical to one’s wellbeing. Fittingly, the therapeutic models that resonate most with me are integrative and humanistic; oftentimes including techniques from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed by the challenges and demands of modern life, are overly anxious, depressed, interested in healing their relationships, female adolescents ages 15-19, neurotypical partners of those on the Autism Spectrum (formerly Aspergers), parents of challenging children, considering career changes, and/or in exploring their spirituality are all of special interest to me.
I worked in various roles in information technology (e.g., business intelligence analyst) before I determined that a career change would better align with my life’s purpose. I decided to go back to school for a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology and Professional Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C. Since graduating in 2013, I have worked in both community mental health as well as in private practice.
I live in Leesburg, VA with my husband, two teenaged sons, and two dogs. In my down time, I enjoy sewing, binge-watching shows, the sunshine, and taking walks in nature.
