Supervisee in Social Work
I have a strong passion for improving the lives of children and their families and I work to help clients discover their potential and focus on addressing barriers through individual empowerment. I enthusiastically ascribe to the values of my profession to maintain the dignity and worth of all people, advocate for social justice, serve with competence and integrity, and promote the importance of healthy interpersonal relationships.
The primary focus of my practice is on the adolescent population and I work to assist teens with improving their self-esteem, managing urges and engagement in self-harm, maintaining safety, addressing behavioral concerns, and continuing to build and maintain healthy relationships. I also utilize play therapy with children to develop skills to improve academic concentration, anxiety management, emotional regulation, and socialization. In addition to my work with Sunstone Counseling, I work full-time in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) affiliated with a behavioral health hospital to provide group and individual therapy to adolescents and families in crisis.
My work with adults addresses anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma recovery, parenting challenges, and relationship struggles. I focus on empowerment, psychoeducation, and skill building. I am also trained in crisis intervention to provide immediate services to those in unsafe relationships or situations.
For clients of all ages, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help further an understanding of the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behavior to address various forms of depression, anxiety, and compulsions. Additionally, I practice Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach skills to assist in emotional regulation, distress management, mindfulness, and relationship and communication effectiveness.
