I have a strong passion to support individuals through the healing process toward recovery. I work to help clients discover their potential and focus on addressing barriers through empowerment. I enthusiastically ascribe to the values of my profession to maintain the dignity and worth of all people, advocate for social justice, serve with competence and integrity, and promote the importance of healthy interpersonal relationships.
The primary focus of my practice is on the adolescent population and I work to assist teens with improving their self-esteem, address disordered eating, managing urges and engagement in self-harm, maintaining safety, addressing behavioral concerns, and continuing to build and maintain healthy relationships. I also support the development of skills to improve academic concentration, anxiety management, emotional regulation, and socialization. In addition to my work with Sunstone Counseling, I have worked in residential treatment and intensive-outpatient programming to support adolescents struggling with eating disorders and mood disorders.
My work with adults addressing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, transition, self-esteem and relationship struggles. I focus on empowerment, psychoeducation, and skill building. I am trained in crisis intervention to provide immediate services to those in unsafe or unhealthy relationships.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help further an understanding of the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behavior to address various forms of depression, anxiety, and compulsions. Additionally, I practice Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach skills to assist in emotional regulation, distress management, mindfulness, and relationship and communication effectiveness.
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and currently live in Alexandria with my husband and baby boy. I grew up playing team sports, and I still love playing soccer and basketball in my free time.
