Sunstone Counseling is seeking a Virginia Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor – Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Sunstone Counseling is currently growing into Loudoun County and Richmond, VA, and is seeking experienced clinicians to provide outstanding supervision and counseling services in these communities. With all operations being held remotely due to COVID-19, this opportunity will begin as a virtual counseling position with the possibility for future office space. An ideal candidate will live in Loudoun County or Richmond. 

Sunstone Counseling seeks to hire a motivated, collaborative individual for the position of clinical supervisor to provide virtual supervision to residents and interns and to conduct virtual mental health counseling services for any of the following: individuals, couples, families, children, teens, and/or adults, averaging 10-25 clients per week. An optimal candidate will bring a diverse perspective to our team and be passionate about responding to the unique mental health needs in our communities. An ideal candidate is organized, professional, committed to continuing education, client-focused, friendly, motivated, works well with others, and can work independently. A candidate would appreciate a warm, energetic, and collaborative environment. 

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of Sunstone Counselors in Residence and Graduate Counseling Interns 
  • Filling out all necessary paperwork with the supervisee
  • Assist with mandatory reporting when needed
  • Meeting with each supervisee at a minimum of once a week to provide clinical support and feedback
  • Working with supervisees to develop and maintain diagnostic assessments and treatment plans 
  • Teach and review clinical notes
  • Attend monthly peer supervision meetings and weekly peer groups.

Qualifications/Requirements include:

  • Licensed through the Virginia Board of Counseling or Social Work
  • Approved Licensed Clinical Supervisor by the Virginia Board of Counseling or Social Work

Our McLean office focuses on providing counseling services for children, adolescents, and their families, in addition to general practice.

Desired qualifications for new counselors at the McLean location include:

  • Approved Clinical Supervisors in VA for LPC residents. RPT-S highly desired.
  • Extensive experience or very specific interest in working with children (play therapy, sand tray, art therapy, expressive arts, movement, and mindfulness-based approaches).
  • Experience and training treating OCD in children with CBT/DBT structured approaches.
  • Confident and competent counselors interested in working with parents of minors, with a special interest in co-parenting and family work.
  • Naturally inclined to collaborate with other Sunstone Counselors and outside practitioners for fully integrated care of our clients.

Falls Church

Our Falls Church office focuses on couples and group work, as well as general practice working with adults.

Desired qualifications for new counselors at the Falls Church location include:

  • Approved Clinical Supervisors in VA for LPC residents.
  • Experience or interest in working with couples. Certification in Imago, EFT, Gottman, or other specialized couples training preferred.
  • Experience or interest in sex therapy. AASECT certification preferred.
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, and retreats.

Old Town

Our Old Town office focuses on couples and group work, as well as general practice  working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Desired qualifications for new counselors at the Old Town location include:

  • Approved Clinical Supervisors in VA for LPC residents.
  • Extensive experience or very specific interest in working with children (play therapy, sand tray, art therapy, expressive arts, movement, and mindfulness-based approaches).
  • Experience or interest in grief work, substance abuse, and trauma. EMDR training preferred.
  • Experience or interest in careers and life transitions (with adolescents and adults).
  • Experience or interest in working with couples. Certification in Imago, EFT, Gottman, or other specialized couples training preferred.
